Unwanted Hair

Excessive hair in undesired locations is a problem for both men and women. For women, hair virtually anywhere other than the head and bikini area can be embarrassing. Men, although permitted a certain amount of hairiness, are still considered unattractive if they have excessive hair on their backs or chests.

At Simply Skin Medical Spa we have the ability to temporarily remove hair with Waxing, and permanently reduce hair with Clarity Laser Hair Removal.

Waxing

Waxing is a method of semi-permanent hair removal which removes the hair from the root.  Almost any area of the body can be waxed: including eyebrows, nose, face, bikini area, legs, arms, back, stomach, ears and toes. Though there are many types of waxing suitable for removing unwanted hair, Simply Skin Medical Spa uses hard wax, composed of beeswax, because hard wax adheres only to your hair, not your skin. This wax can be used on even the most sensitive skin.

It’s recommended that you get waxed every two to four weeks after your first appointment. This will help remove the hair that was growing underneath the skin at your last appointment(s). After that how regularly you should get waxed will depend much on how noticeable the hair is, how much it bothers you, and your budget.

Clarity Laser Hair Removal

Clarity Laser Hair Removal is one of the most effective methods for permanently reducing hair growth in nearly any area of the face or body. Many people will see up to six months of hairlessness in treated areas and a permanent reduction of up to 90% in unwanted hair.

Laser Hair Removal works by the principles of selective photothermolysis. When laser light hits your skin, it is absorbed more by darker tissues than lighter tissues. Since hair shafts and follicles normally contain more melanin, the chemical that makes skin cells darker, they tend to absorb more light than surrounding tissues. This causes them to heat up more rapidly than the surrounding skin and suffer more thermal damage, which causes the follicles to shut down or even die.

Because lasers used for hair removal target hair pigment, red, blonde, white and gray hair cannot be effectively treated with lasers.

In order to achieve optimal results, a series of four to seven laser hair removal treatments will be recommended. The length of intervals between treatments will depend on your hair growth cycle, but typically facial hair removal treatments are spaced four to six weeks apart, and body hair removal treatments are spaced eight to ten weeks apart.
