Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a treatment for exfoliation of the skin and removal of vellus hairs. It can be an individual treatment or an add on treatment for other skincare treatments. Dermaplaning uses a sharp, straight scalpel blade to scrape the dead skin and vellus hairs from the face, leaving a smooth and exfoliated surface. Dermaplaning helps with cell-turnover and the creation of new skin cells. Clients also find that dermaplaning leaves a smoother surface for products and increases layering and absorption of skincare and makeup products.

FAQ

Dermaplaning can be a stand alone treatment or as an add on. Skincare treatments will begin with cleansing of the face, a treatment oil will be applied for a wet technique, then our trained estheticians will scrape the blade across the skin removing dead cells and vellus hair. Dermaplaning is not painful, with a slight scraping sensation.
Dermaplaning is not invasive and done properly should only leave the skin smooth and soft. Some clients may experience slight redness and warmth for a few hours, this is simply an increase of blood flow to the skin.
Everyone could be a candidate for dermaplaning. All skin types and textures are able to be treated with the exception of those with active and/or open lesions of the skin. As we are using a sharp blade, the skin in these areas are simply too fragile and would be a potential for increased infection. If you have a small number of blemishes, we can treat with dermaplaning by simply avoiding the lesion.
Dermaplaning can be used in combination before a skincare treatment or a few weeks following for increased exfoliating. We recommend dermaplaning with any facial treatment, Diamond Glow, chemical peel or resurfacing treatment. Dermaplaning can also be used following an Ultra or Fractional resurfacing treatment done 2 weeks following for more exfoliation.
