SkinPen is a microneedling treatment called ‘collagen induction therapy’ that works to remodel the skin by creating controlled micro-injuries to stimulate the body’s own natural wound-healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. The overall structure of the skin remains intact that results effective remodeling of scar tissue.
  • Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin triggers your immune system to cleanse the wound, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
  • Phase II: Proliferation. The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extracellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develops.
  • Phase III: Remodeling. The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels.

FAQ

This treatment is performed by both Dr. Hoffmeier and our trained Licensed Estheticians. You will be brought in for topical numbing and Pre-Treatment pictures 30 minutes prior to the procedure. Once numb, the SkinPen treatment tip is glided over the skin surface in multiple layer directions – the treatment should take 15-30 minutes in totaling depending on the treatment area.

SkinPen is a low-downtime treatment – allowing for normal activity to resume the following day.
When leaving your SkinPen treatment it is expected to have redness with the feel of warmth, similar to a sunburn – a small amount of blood is possible to be seen and left of the skin; these are your natural stem cells, we leave them be! The redness and sunburn feeling will reside over the following 24-48 hours.

Skinpen is recommended to have a series of 3-6 treatments one month apart and additional treatments once every 9-15 months following for maintenance.

Results will be seen gradually over time, you will notice initial results within days but full results won’t be seen until up to 6 months after the treatment as the collagen and elastin develop.
